We are having a special service to encourage people to make a commitment to pray!

There are four commitment services a year at Hobble Creek Baptist Church: Bible-Reading Commitment Service, Ministry Commitment Service, Prayer Commitment Service, and a Missions Commitment Service. Each of these special services are three months apart. Here’s what this service will look like:

There will be a sermon on the importance of prayer

There will be a handout given to everyone

This handout will ask a few simple questions. Nobody has to fill this paper out, but for those who would like to, it will be available for them. Here’s what it’ll ask:

(1) Would you like to make a commitment to pray?
Anyone can make a commitment on their own, but some people like to have it written down and shown to someone to help them make that commitment. Some of the best commitments we make are public ones.

(2) If yes, what are you going to commit to this year regarding prayer?
Here are some types of commitments one might make: “I want to commit to praying for 30-minutes every day this year;” “I want to commit to praying every day with my family this year;” “I want to commit to praying every morning when I wake up and every evening before I go to sleep.”

(3) Would you like Pastor Jory to help keep you accountable to your commitment?
Nobody has to report back to the pastor. However, for some people, they need and want that accountability. Pastor Jory is willing to contact anyone once a month who wants help keeping their commitment.

Prayer is a vital aspect of the Christian life, so we encourage you and anyone you can bring to come to this in order to be reminded and encouraged to have a more committed prayer life.
